McLaren Vale, Australia.D'arenberg Vintage Fortified Shiraz 2014 The grapes for this wine are sourced from part of an old vineyard that goes towards The Dead Arm Shiraz. We leave the grapes to ripen for an extra week or two, then make the wine in our traditional open-top fermenters, half way through, we fortify it using a specially selected fragrant and lifted brandy spirit. The wine opens to lush aromas of fruitcake, spice and plum pudding, topped off with melted butter and brandy snaps on the side. Its a rich and heady mix, embracing and warming, just waiting for the chill of night and an open fire. The fine, low-strength brandy spirit plays a wonderful supporting role, selected for its character, all juniper berries, spice, fruit, roses and apricots  brings warmth and richness to the wine. This wine will build further complexing characters as it ages and will reward extended cellaring.
